Summary: Installed another HMP60 for comparison, tried to fix tipping bucket code, power off LVD, Rice roads flooded, increased solar panel angle

I arrived at 9:35 with Daphne. There was a thin layer of fog when we first arrived but it burned off quickly. Then it was still mostly cloudy with a high thin overcast. It looked like they were working on the island pumps. The roads along the rice fields were completely underwater.

When we arrived the power was off due to low voltage disconnect. I forced the charge controller on. The batteries were at 24.8V. I cleaned the solar panels which had dew on them and we were getting 2A to 4A of solar power.

We collected the met data then uploaded a new program to the CR1000 met logger. The new program tries to fix the problem with the tipping bucket having to run in the 2Hz main program with the diffuse PAR. The tips are now accumulated in a second variable that should be processed by the 10sec slow sequence. We tested the tipping bucket several times. We finally saw the correct number of tips in a graph plot, but not in the numeric display so it is unclear if it is fixed. There should be about 18 testing tips.

We also added another HMP60 sn G4540021 to cross compare again since last time the TA HMP60 had spiders in it and a slow fan. The added HMP is on SE 11 and 12. The TA HMP60 still had a slow fan – wasn’t spinning at all at first – even though it had been moved to the 24V power last time. We decided for inter-comparison it was better to have both HMPs without fan than to have different ventilation rates.

We increased the angle of the solar panels a little bit. Hopefully this will give them a little more winter season power.

We poured some more castor oil pellets in squirrel holes near the tower.

We left at 10:35
