Summary: Installed FD chambers, tried to calibrate soil CO2 probes but failed.

Daphne and I arrived at Tonzi at about 12:30. It was sunny, mild and very dry. The trees still have leaves but rain is coming Thursday night.

We installed Eosense FD chambers at the soil CO2 profiles. DC-DC converters were installed on the 24V lines at both the Open and Tree 1 boxes. The FD chambers were installed on the provided collars and tied down with cable ties. The FD chamber 2016002 at the Open location did not start up. I brought it back in to test. The FD chamber sn 20160003 at the Tree 1 location seemed to run fine. Eosense mentioned a â€œheat-start-up issueâ€ but thought it had been fixed.

We also tried to calibrate the Vaisala CO2 probes again and failed again. We collected the data and replaced the battery in the 23x sn 2301. This seemed to keep the clock from losing its place. We uploaded a program for calibration to collect data at 10sec intervals, but the final storage was not updating. So we upgraded its OS from v18 to v19 and reloaded the program. This ran for a couple of minutes but quit again. We gave up for today but might have to swap out the data logger next time.

I looked at restarting the Tower CO2 profile, but didnâ€™t have all the parts and ran out of time.
