Summary: Standard fieldwork, tried to calibrate Vaisala CO2 probes but data logger problems, fixed tower solar charger, lost Tower phenocam images.

Siyan and I arrived at about 11am. It was clear, sunny and warm with little to no wind, though there was a breeze above the canopy in the afternoon. Everything is still very dry.

Siyan did all the standard fieldwork including collecting all the data. We did not do water potential this time because the leaves were so brittle and the values so extreme last time as to make the quality of the measurements questionable.

I started to do the Vaisala CO2 probe calibrations again. I did some rewiring moving the two SHF plates to the last two differential channels to make room for two more TCs. I donâ€™t know where the sensing end of the fourth one from the tree location is, but it is hooked up and reading. I uploaded a version of the program for calibration that read the sensors continuously and saved 10sec sampled data, but it would not run properly. The data logger status reported that the internal battery was low. And the clock was resetting on power cycles. I think I need to replace the battery before I can do much more with this data logger. The OS was v18, v19 is the most recent. Also the version of Loggernet on the silver laptop seems to have a problem compiling Edlog programs â€“ control port 4 was stuck on. The white laptop has a newer version of Loggernet that seems to work better.

At the Tower, I did a factory reset on the Kid solar controller. This allowed it to detect the 24V battery bank and use the proper charging parameters. Solar input went from almost nothing to more than 500W. I also added "High Voltage" and "80VDC" labels to parts of the solar system. I finger tightened the U-bolts on the solar panels that were loosened to get at the junction boxes, but they could still use a wrench.

I was hoping to restart the CO2 profile system on the Tower, but didn't have the DC-DC converter I needed. I might need two as the solenoids and the pump pull quite a bit of power.

I might have lost the CFM card for the Tower phenocam images.
