Summary: Fixed CR10x data logger so that it would output for rain and were also fixed so that it would not log on day light savings time (i.e. log and display proper times).
Nov 4. Downloaded data and checked out the system. The solar panel system was drawing 2.1 amps, battery voltage was 13.5. Tried to hook up aspirator, but its draw was 0.6 amps extra. The battery started to draw down. Plus test showed little difference. The air temperature was about 17.02 C without the aspirator and 16.92 C with aspirator under hazy sky and 2 m/s winds, a 0.1 C difference. Soil sensors were place into the soil. Up to now they were at the surface depth. Sensor depth sn 54/016, 10 cm sn 54/017, 10 cm sn 54/020, 20 cm sn 54/015, 20 cm sn 54/019, surface Took four samples of plants for leaf area. Each was 0.25 by 0.25 m The grass is growing. There is almost a low uniform green layer, punctuated by gopher mounds. Took crop height measurements. Samples were: 7,8,5,2,4,3,2,3,1.5,2,3,6,6,5,6,3 cms; mean height 4.15 cm +/- 2.02 cm Took bulk density measurements. Checking out the performance of the system and debugging it. Noticed that the relative humidity sensor is on the 0 to 1000mv range, so it goes offscale when humidity was 100%, as when it rained (-6999). The CR10x data logger was not outputting rain. We altered the program so location 7 is totalized for rain. Also added the pressure sensor on location 13 and the wetness sensor is averaged on location 8. The program was reset at 1630. Found that the MD9_3 files were not correctly converted to day format. The CR10x data logger (the soil system, MD9_2) was on daylight savings time. So it tried to call the other logger at the wrong time. The time was corrected. All the loggers are now on standard time. Installed the Licor Line quantum sensor. Adjusted the program to reflect the 604 ohm resistor., I=V/R and the current calibration is 314.47, so 604 times 314.47 yields 189.93 umol m-2 s-1 per mv. NOTE THIS MAY STILL BE WRONG The calibration is 3.18 microAmps per 1000 umicromoles m-2 s-1 So: V=IR; 3.18 e-6 times 604 times 1000 = 1.92072 volts per micromol m-2 s-1 Inverting converts to 520.64 micromol m-2 s-1 per mv Need to double check program and output. At present the ‘corrected’ line sensor reveals a 1.57 ratio with Rg., I expect 2.3 by dividing energy in half and multiplying by 4.6. For Recalibration, swapped LiCOR LI7500 sensors. Installed sn 0035. |
