Summary: Quantum line sensor moved to Tonzi; rain gauge sensor tripped multiple times.
| Hello my friends- A few changes have taken place at the Tonzi/Vaira sites A.) The quantum line sensor sn LQ1570 has been moved from Vaira to Tonzi. B.) The output of the Campbell 23x at the Tonzi site is now as follows 1.) Soil moisture 2.) " 3.) " 4.) " 5.) " 6.) " 7.) " 8.) Battery voltage (23x battery) 9.) Q line sensor (in milli-volts) 10.) Precip (inches) 11.) Panel Temperature of the 23x (degree C) - this will give us a method to monitor the temperature inside the enclosures and if they are getting above 40C we will have to install some form of temp control. I manually tripped the rain guage sensor 50-60 times and hope that we will see the spike in the data that is returned the next download - this spike should then be removed from the actual data file on record. C.) The tower has a sonic, Li7500 and PC installed and we are (hopefully) collecting flux data at this time. The power inverters (12V dc to 120 AC) used to power the Zip drives are now being left at each site - in storage shed at Tonzi and in solar battery box at Vaira. Please remember that the small sealed lead acid batteries used to power the inverters must not be drained below 10.8 volts. Draining below this value ruins them. Final note- the final Amador county building inspection was performed last Friday and we passed successfully. I have ordered the necessary safety equipment (hardhats, rope grabs, lanyards, 3 point harness, etc....) for the tower and will install the necessary lifeline apparatus ASAP. |
