Summary: Site in full growth mode. Took water samples and cleaned sensors. Updated 7550 firmware. 7550 clock was a day ahead, corrected.

2013-06-05

Yanel, Sara, and I arrived about 16:50 PDT. It was warm, sunny and windy. The site is very green with a bit of old plant material visible amidst the new growth. Sara and Yanel went out in the water and grabbed water samples as well as cleaned the sensors of algae and bird doodie. The CO2 sensor in the tules was slightly out of the tube and deep in the water. They replaced it and repositioned the tube 10 cm below the surface. Also, the plastic top covering the upward facing LED was missing... didn't know they were hot items around here!

I updated the 7550 (s/n AIU-0397 with 7500 head 2182) firmware to version 6.5.2 and FPGA version 6.0.3. I downloaded the flux data first but left the data on the USB stick and reinstalled it afterward. All calibration coefficients and settings were retained after the update, aside from the ones mentioned in the rice notes (no problem here). Current pressure cal matched the factory cal. There is now a label in the 7550 box with the pressure cal.

I noted that the clock on the 7550 was a day ahead (reading June 6 and the correct GMT-8 time), so I set it to the correct date (June 5). As this will probably result in writing over yesterdays data, we should grab the data I downloaded to the computer and change the date before pulling in the data next week. I should have deleted the data on the USB stick prior to the time change to make Joe's job easier, but I didn't think of it. Sorry Joe.

7500 readings:
CO2: 367 ppm (374 after cleaning, same after firmware update)
H2O: 770 mmol m-3 (750 after cleaning, same after firmware update)
agc: 31.8 (29.3 after cleaning, signal strength = 88% after firmware update)
p = 101.11 kPa
t: 25.36 C
sos = 346 m s-1

Current 7700 readings:
CH4 = 1.83 ppm (1.88 after cleaning)
RSSI = 39.4 (adjusted to 87 after cleaning)
Reservoir was full.

MET looked good. Cleaned the solar panels.
