Trip Purpose Install NDVI_2

Wed 11:30 arrive all appears well.

Repair leveling mount on diffuse radiation sensor and level the device.

Connect 2 aux solar panels to regulator and tighten all terminal screws.
Unable to communicate with CR23x3 to upload program and data before NDVI and new program installation (program to collect NDVI data and initiate webcam power for 5 minutes at beginning of hour from 10:00 – 14:00)

Remove SC532 interface and both MD9s and install rs232 cable.
PC – logger communication is established.

Program upload successful, data upload fails to retrieve all data from memory

Install aux PC and attempt data retrieval from cr23x3 – failure

Reinstall PC and reattempt data retrieval – failure.

Note that when the power return lead for the PC was removed the PC remained powered up. This indicates a ground loop. Disconnect webcam relay control signal return lead from ground terminal on cr23x3 and the PC shuts off. This is causing the ground loop. Reconnect the control signal return and remove power return lead for PC to break ground loop. The current for the PC flows through the PC power buss, through the PC RS232 port ground serial lead (pin 5) through the cr23x3, through the webcam relay and power return lead to the system batteries

This situation will have to be monitored to see if any drastic changes are evident in the data.

CR23x3 *B values:

1.) 27643 Prog sig
2.) 43177 sig
3.) 1664 Kbyte mem
4.) 0 watchdog error
5.) 99 table overruns
6.) 1.0 OS ver
7.) 0010 OS Rev
8.) 2.6564 Lithium batt volt
9.) 99 low volt counter
10.) 9 flash error
11.) 21.6 flash erase
12.) 0 low 5 volt counter
13.) 3158 program time
14.) 19.9 Panel Temp
15.) 02 Coprocesser rev
16.) 00 rev
17.) CPLD rev

Data upload attempts from CR23x3 using the “Collect All” button fails but does collect a portion of the memory. Different areas of memory are uploaded each time and I was finally able to “piece together” all the data from day 301 – 306.

Uninstall PC208W software and delete all remaining PC208W folders and files and reinstall PC208 and set all parameters – failure still unable to upload all data from memory. However, ½ hour data are being retrieved every 30 min.

Replace desiccant in K&Z pyranometer.

Organize signal & power leads to CR23X3 and wire tie together.

Test webcam and it is operational.

Install NDVI_2 on boom arm and new program in CR23x3.

Edit cr23x3 program to allow webcam to be powered up/down by setting flag 5 hi/lo respectively.

Place fire extinguisher under boom arm and use to focus webcam.

Set Windows task manager to initiate Webcam batch file at the beginning of each hour from 10:00 – 15:00 hrs

18:00 Leave site all instruments operational.
