Hill Slough: 2022-08-15 15:40:00 (DOY 227)
Author: Joe Verfaillie
Others: Daphne, Koong
Summary: Hot, EXO batteries okay, Low tide, top solar panel cleaned, CTD water level un-buried.
Hill Slough 2022-08-15 Daphne, Koong and I arrived at 15:40 PDT. It was hot with a salty smelling breeze from the west. Feels more humid here than at BA/BC. The tide is low and incoming – about 1/2 the surface area was puddles. No water near the staff gauge. We stopped to collect data from the EXO and miniDot. The EXO reported its battery power at 85% and the data seemed complete. Daphne swapped the miniDot batteries. We sprayed the sensors off with DI water and tried dislodge the tiny arthropods before redeploying. The tide was low enough that I could carefully walk to the solar power platform in my hiking boots. I could see places where drainage channels are beginning to take shape. I cleaned the upper panel that Daphne couldn’t reach last time. I also unburied the CTD water level and salinity sensor under the tower. The water and muck was warm to the touch. The Eosense GP is also sitting in the mud Daphne collected the met, flux and camera data. Koong cleaned the eddy and radiation sensors. The 7500 read: 410ppm CO2, 562mmol/m3 H2O, 36.4C, 100.9kPa, 96SS – 97 after cleaning The 7700 read: 1.97ppm CH4, 52RSSI – 67 after cleaning The eddy clock was adjusted +45sec from 15:18:00 to 15:18:45 and logging restarted. The wash reservoir was topped off. Daphne took a water sample from the sipper. She had to back flush it a bit to get it to flow. Sample, temperature-compensated conductivity, temperature, notes Porewater, 21.71mS, 31.0C, 15:35 PST and measured back at the car We left at 16:35 PDT |
