Trip Purpose General site visit and rerun tower CO2 profile system response curves.

26Jul05 12:11 arrive

Webcam once again did not take pictures. Able to ping camera and look at picture on Internet Explorer. Then the WebCam software connected and is showing a picture again. Change file name convention on WebCam pictures to include the prefix TZ.

12:29 Run zero on tower CO2 profile system and once again the pump has failed.

New Pump (installed on 19Jul05) had 12 volts present on power leads but was not hot to touch. Tap on pump with screwdriver and it began to run at half speed. Tap quite hard and the pump starts running full speed.

Run zero/Span with 429 transfer standard.
Z=0.8; S= 431

Run zero/Span with 421 reference standard.
Z=0.8; S= 424 this result is suspicious.

Open LI820 digital interface and digital readout reads 421-422. Herein lies a problem: the digital readout is accurate and the analog output for the CO2 channel is reading too high.

Siyan: A quick calculation indicates that changing the multiplier from 1000ppm/5000mV=0.2 to 0.19905 yields a more reliable result.

Note: on profile system a response (ringing) from the solenoid switch is delayed about 3-4 seconds.

08:27 Tower CO2 profile pump failure. Tap on unit and it begins to run at low speed. Tap on again and it begins to run full speed.

Bird flights on sonic were off to the side and needed repositioning.
