Summary: Removed battery box for use at HS, swapped HMP solar shield, Rotated NR01 to continue inter-comparison, water in temporary CR1000 box.
Sherman Wetland 2021-03-11 I arrived at about 8:30. Rain from last night and early morning still clearing up but not too much wind. The water level is still high but I did not check the gauge. This was a “quick†stop to get the battery box for the Hill Slough site, rotate the net radiometer comparison and swap out the HMP solar shield. I turned off all power with the breakers in the solar controller box and then disconnected the batteries and pulled them out on to the boardwalk under the solar panels. I removed the battery box and reconnected all the batteries. Turning on the breakers all seemed well. At the tower the multiplexor was clicking, the Ethernet hub had green lights, the 7700 had green lights and the 7550 USB stick was flashing appropriately. I didn’t inspect further for proper reboot. I loosened the set screws on the NR01 and rotated it 180 degrees so that we can compare the normally down facing sensors over the wider and less clutter range of incoming light with the CNR4. The box that is holding the CR1000 for the inter-comparison had some water in the bottom. I dumped the water out and propped the CR1000 up on some internal screw studs but it need to be watched if there is more rain. Also the shields on the NR01 downward sensors look like cups in the inverted position – not sure this will affect the measurements and there is a hole for water to drain out. The HMP solar shield only had one bolt and the top few plates rotated around to be misaligned. I removed the entire shield and swapped in the one Daphne had prepared. At first the fan did not spin up so I took it apart and found that the putty was jamming the fan. I fixed the putty and the fan was working. Maintaining these solar shields is always a pain – it would be nice to come up with some better methods. I left for Hill Slough at about 10:00 making a quick stop at WP to get a couple of treated 2x4s. |
