| WHO: Nancy Kiang, Jianwu Tang (grad student in Ye Qi's lab) WHERE: Tonzi Ranch WHEN: Overnight at Best Western Amador Inn, Tues-Wed, 7/31-8/01/2001 WEATHER: Tues 90°F, Wed 95°F, clear skies, gibbous moon at 19:00 PST WHAT: Measure pre-dawn and midday leaf water potentials, dendrometer bands, and Leaf Area Index of transects. Re-start PC208 on floor system. Photos and GPS tower. Jianwu Tangmeasured soil respiration. 8/01/01. Tonzi Ranch. -2:51-4:23 PST. Measured pre-dawn leaf water potentials. Oak ranges -28 to -45 bar. Pine tree at ~-24 bar. 10:00-11:00 PST. JT measured soil respiration. NK checked floor system: still running. 13:00-14:26 PST. Measured mid-day leaf water potentials. Oak ranges –29 to -57 bar. Pine tree at ~-29 bar. Took photos of tower, sapflow setup, trees with senescent leaves. GPS of tower: N 38°25.867, W 120° 57.970. Comments: Distribution of senescent leaves is about the same as on 7/20/01. Mr. Tonzi said that trees may remain green through November until first mist of rain cues total senescence. |
