Arrive 09:25 PST at Vaira Ranch. Relatively cool day. Clear and mild.

Flux system was operating.

All signals on scale.

Noted drought deciduousness on the surrounding trees. Many were turning brown. Active leaf area is not the same as intercepted leaf area.

Downloaded data and checked data loggers.

CR10x 2, batt vole 13 C. Tsoil on scale

Checked the Orientation of the sonic with the GPS. North of the sonic was pointing at about 330 degrees. Need to adjust wind orientation with the software.

Power gen 14.4a, load 2.8 a, Batt 13.4 v.

Arrive Tonzi ~10:33 PST and downloaded data from tower system. It was operating well

10:53 downloaded understory data.

Had some problems here. Started to interrogate the CR-x and lost communication with i/o. Got errors on software. Turned on pc, pullout out I/o card. It was hot and had been in sun as I downloaded data. Problem??

May have caused and solved problem later. One thing I did was erase Gill sonic Icon from desktop to prevent launching wrong program. Also noted when I powered up the system that the flux program was NOT being launched. Started poking around the startup files and noted that PC 208 was being launched by the Startup and a separate PC208 subdirectory in Start up. Cleaned up the start up. Launching only one PC208 and brought a new version of the Gillsonic Pif into the startup. Making sure it is launched from the same subdirectory with setup file, which for some reason it was not happening.

Don’t know how these files got screwed up as they were working when I got there. With sun and bright screen it is hard to see what gets moved to the zip drive. It is all I could think of. But at the end everything was working. Please check though next time you visit and make sure I did not cause any major problem!!
