Summary: Put tower and sensors back up, field not flooded, downloaded FD data
2019-12-13 Bouldin Corn Joe and I arrived around 10:00 PST to reassemble the tower. It was an overcast, foggy, and drizzly day. Our field is still not flooded, even though all the fields around it were flooded. The ditch to the east was high and smelled like fetid duck. We downloded the FD data but did not clear the data. We put the scaffolding up closer by the road, by the AC-DC power box. Hopefully next year the farmers will plant close to the tower. We leveled the tower and attached it to two fence posts using chain and turnbuckles with one eye-bolt on the chain side and one hook-bolt on the fence post side. We put Tyler’s datalogger enclosure on its own fence post. Our FD power cable was not long enough to reach our tower, so we used a screw terminal and more cable to connect it to our tower (the screw terminal is in Tyler’s datalogger enclosure). The well is still in the same place, now to the west of the tower near the soil measurements. Joe installed the soil moisture sensors vertically at different depths. We refilled the wash reservoir; there was a leak inside that Joe fixed with a small cable tie. We put mostly the same sensors back up: Arable I sn A001359 (Arable II sn C002445 removed b/c it was test sensor that would not redeploy) Decagon NDVI sensors sn 882103020 (in), sn 2046503357 (out) Decagon PRI sensors sn 913003004 (in), sn 930103952 (out, field stop) (sn 897103002 (hemispherical) removed b/c I thought it was not responding, but it may have been just an old variable name in the CR1000 numerical display, so we should try to put this hemispherical sensor back up again) Stardot camera sn 0030F4D21491 PAR sensors sn 140453 (in), out sn 140441 (out) Diffuse PAR sensor sn 140456 Soil moisture sensors sn M003370, sn 17133 (z=-12 to -24 cm), sn 17129 (z=-24 to -36 cm), sn 17128 (z=0 to -12 cm) Heat flux plates sn 11326, sn 10867, sn 10861 (z=-2 cm) Water level sensor sn 70011234 Precipitation tipping bucket sn 65548-615 (added pluggable connector to wires, tested with 475 ml water, got 102 tips, did not adjust) Barometer sn L2340502 Air T/RH sensor sn L1740395 CR1000 sn 66251 CR10x sn 31308 AM16/32B sn 21690 AM25T sn 7908 Three soil thermocouple profiles Anemometer sn 153805 (new sensor because previous one had broken tranducer) Note: On 2020-01-23, Camilo and Nicole measured the sonic orientation as "on the phone compass it was 10-20 deg". LI-7700 sn TG1-0155 (calibrated in the lab and seemed fine, cracked paint on spar painted over with white patio-furniture paint; I changed the wash settings to spray for 10 sec + spin for 30 sec) LI-7500A sn 0042 (calibrated in the lab and seemed fine, but I forgot to upload the new configuration file) LI-7550 sn AIU-0614 LI-500 readings (with old configuration file from ~2019-11-14): CO2 449ppm H2O 630ppm T 14.6C P 101.5kPa SS 102 after cleaning LI7700 readings: CH4 2.09ppm RSSI 82 after cleaning Tasks for next time: -Put up PurpleAir -Bring switch to connect to phenocam, check clock -Check sonic numbers -Another spiky hat for 7700 (current one has non-drying silicone under the spikes) -Upload new 7500 configuration file -Use water level tape to benchmark water level measurements -Dig new well under the tower (before they start planting) -Test hemispherical PRI out sensor and replace the current field-stop sensor. We left at 16:00 PST. |
