Phenology: more grass germinated in Vaira, haven’t grown very much since last visit. Grasses under the trees were greener and bigger than those in the open area. During the nighttime, more long-wave radiations were reflected by tree canopies back to the ground. Minimum temperature was higher under the tree than in the open area.
Summary
  1. Power on Floor site is OK. No data lost. Hoarry!!!
  2. Soil CO2 profile worked well.
  3. Check and download data at Tower and Varia. EC systems worked well.
  4. Ta&Rh sensor was hung out of shield, no aspirator, no protection from radiation!!! Dennis fixed it. Old data will have bias.
  5. DDB cleaned Pyranometer, NDVI surfaces – looks like dead decomposing spider on ~10% of surface.
  6. dendrometer, soil moisture, and spectrume were measured. Dendrometers need reset because some have been out of range!!!

Vaira_Grass Site
  1. Fence and gate power: >12 v.
  2. Panel and Batteries: 13.3 v; 8.7 amps; 2.7 amps.
  3. Reading from Gillsonic screen before downloading data. (The value of H2O and CO2 should be in the range of 0 – 5 v.)

  5. Closed gate and set up fence. Went back and turn it on.
  6. Youngryel took spectrum measurement on the normal points and under the tree. Grasses looked greener and bigger under the tree.
