| Date: July 12 I just got a phone call from Liukang- He informed me that the PCs at the tower and Vaira were running fine but the pc at the floor was not taking data - the gill sonic program was minimized. He also informed me that Nancy tried to make some changes to the floor pc on her last visit. He did not know what exactly she tried to do - possibly something to do with the renaming file task. Nancy should not have been able to change any settings with our new security system but may have added a pc208 task that was not compiled with wattcom therefore crashing the system at the floor pc. I gave Liukang the password to the floor pc and some instruction on some administrative changes to make to the system. Hopefully this will solve the problem. I am having some difficulty getting the pc I have here in the lab to work so I did not go to the field today. I removed the operating system from the pc I have in the lab and performed a clean install of Windows 2K. I installed the IOSOCKET pcmcia card and installed the driver as I have done to the other 3 pc but for some reason it is unable to open com port 3 with gillsonic.exe or pc208w.exe. If I can solve the problem today I intend to go to the site tomorrow (Friday) and will replace the pc and install the auto shot off/on at the floor site. I am going to add a data logger to the floor system at the tripod until I can find the time to run cable and conduit from the other met data loggers. Hi Dennis: Here is the notes for my field trips on d193. At Vaira site: Arrived 9:00, heavy cloudy, but clear out shortly after. (1).The flux program was running properly, download the data. and check the voltage (13.2V, 9.6V and 2.7V). (2) Switched the signal and return wires for Rnet sensor, so it gives us positive output. (3) Change the time setting for CR23X and CR10X, so that daily met and soil files will be from 0030 to 2400. (4) I checked the wire for the PAR_up sensor, and found that the connection of the signal wire and its extension wire was not very good. I re-wrapped the connection with black tape, the data output is good. At Tonzi site. clear sky, mild and temperature of mid 80. (1) The tower flux program was running good. Download the data. (2). But the flux program of floor system was minimized at the bottom of the screen. I found out that the flux program was minimized right after I left the site last week. The laptop was still able to communicate with all the datalooggers. I restart the program, the gillsonic program was still minimized after 1 hr or so. I called Ted about the problem, he told me that Nancy put her own copy of MD9_5.exe in that folder of floor system. After I deleted MD9_5.exe and also deleted the task5 under communication tab of PC208W, the floor system was running properly. (3). Inside the orange fence, replaced CR10X2 battery, and moved the wires (power supply of the fan for the T/RH sensor at floor) to CR23X box. (4) 4 A/Ci measurements of Li-Cor 6400. some of the trees seems senescence early than others, leaves start to turn yellow. Liukang |
