Summary: Problem discovered with taking samples beyond 30cm due to small rocks.
| Where: Tonzi Ranch Who: Liukang Xu On 4/25/01 and 4/26/01 (d115, d116): At Tonzi Ranch and Vaira ranch: Soil sampling for bulk density: They are all from the depth around 5-30 cm. Due to the small size of probe (with 3.5 cm diameter) and too many small rocks, it is difficulty to take the samples beyond 30 cm. I guess we need come up some other ways to determine the bulk density from 30 to 100 cm. Anyway the results are as follows: at Tonzi ranch bulk density(g/cm) std; moisture content(%) std; sample number Under tree 1.58 0.136 18.49 1.366 27 open space 1.64 0.108 17.64 1.907 27 At Vaira ranch 1.43 0.125 17.30 1.732 27 I saved these soil samples for other analysis in the future. |
