Alfalfa
2015-07-01

I arrived about 9:30 with Sara and Miguel. It was hot and humid with a very light breeze from the SSW. I could smell the diesel exhaust when I was standing at the tower. There were some high thin clouds that kept the sun from being too scorching. The field to the south has been mowed and the edges that were previously mowed have been baled.

Also with us were visiting scientists Xiangming Xiao and Chang Yong Choi from the University of Oklahoma who were here looking at rice fields. Sara took the visitors on a tour of the sites then returned to do field work. Miguel did soil respiration reps again.

The LGR trailer seemed to be running just fine. I’m not sure what was preventing the TeamViewer login, but I think TeamViewer changes its keys daily. The laptop also had LogMeIn running on it, which I stopped. The power settings were okay though – it should not go to sleep.

I turned everything off and added a line conditioner and UPS to the extension cord from the generator. The line conditioner seemed to work well boosting the voltage from about 100VAC to about 112VAC. Everything rebooted fine and Yi-wen was able to connect to the laptop. When I tested the UPS by disconnection the generator power, the UPS popped a breaker and everything turned off. I tried the UPS that was in the trailer, but it had a dead battery and complained of an overload. So I put the Analyzer on the line conditioner and put the laptop and hotspot and trailer fan on the working UPS.

Everything seemed to be running okay when I left.

I collected data from the LGR system and from our tower system.
