Notes: We borrowed this LI-6400 XT analyzer from the Silver lab for the field campaign of leaf level gas exchange measurements in the wetlands. It was set up with a soil chamber when we borrowed it, but we converted it to use with our own clear conifer chamber (no serial number for the conifer chamber). We also added our quantum PAR sensor sn 27348.
This system has no CO2 mixer.

Camilo attached a leaf chamber with a transparent top. He cleaned the chamber, but it wasn't as dusty as he suspected. I changed the time from 15:26 to 13:38. We connected the reference and sample inlet to the cal gases/dewpoint generator with a y-junction. We checked the zero using the chemicals and they seemed ok, but we decided to calibrate zero/spans using the the cal gases and dewpoint generator anyways.

Zero:
Checked using chemicals: CO2_S: 1.4 CO2_R: -0.1 H2O_S: 0.55 H2O_R: 1.4

Set zero using cal gas:
Cal gas = zero air, 1100 psi, 1 SCFH flow
Before: CO2_S:-0.9 CO2_R: 4.2 H2O_S: -0.043 H2O_R: -0.592
After: *All fluctuating around zero.

Span with 408.97ppm cal gas from AMP:
Cal gas = AMP cal gas at 408.97ppm, 800 psi, 1 SCFH flow
Before: CO2_R: 408.7 CO2_S: 407.3
After: CO2_R: Did not adjust CO2_S: 409.0

Span with 16.0C dew point:
Before: H2O_R: ?? C H2O_S:?? C
After: ??

We borrowed this LI-6400 from the Silver lab and they had not zeroed and spanned it for about 10 years. We checked the zero with the chemicals and they were a little off, so we set the zero and the span using cal gas and a dewpoint generator. Considering how long this analyzer had not been calibrated the settings were actually pretty good. But it also hadn't been used for most of that time.

Then we zeroed and spanned:
Zero:
Checked using chemicals: CO2_S: 15.2 CO2_R: 7.8 H2O_S: 5.7 H2O_R: 5.7

Set zero using cal gas (zero air):
Before: CO2_S:16.8 CO2_R: 6.82 H2O_S: 0.32 H2O_R: 0.282
After: *All fluctuating around zero.

Span with 408.97ppm cal gas:
Before: CO2_R: 404.4 CO2_S: 404.8
After: *Fluctuating around 409

Span with 16.0C dew point:
Before: H2O_R: 15.06C H2O_S:15.02C
After: *Fluctuating between 15.99 and 16.01
