Heat Flux Plate
2001-01-05 000138 HFP01 Installed Heat Flux Plate A Likely first installation date and location estimated from notes and data.
2024-03-07 000138 HFP01 Maintenance Heat Flux Plate A We dug this plate up to replace its cable that had all its insulation rotted off. The plate was 2-5cm below the surface – it was tilted and ground surface was not very flat. We put it back flat at 3cm and the new cable in conduit.
2001-01-05 000139 HFP01 Installed Heat Flux Plate B Likely first installation date and location estimated from notes and data.
2012-09-05 000139 HFP01 Removed Heat Flux Plate B Removed from Tonzi Floor for repair and calibration. This sensor was about 3cm below the ground surface. The insulation of its cable was all cracked and rotting. This was SHF plate #2.
2012-11-07 000139 HFP01 Installed Heat Flux Plate B Installed after calibration by Sebastian in BC. The original calibration factor was found to be stable. It was placed just south of the stand holding the HMP45 near another SHF plate. Siyan wants to keep the new plate litter-free to compare to the older plate. Both plates are near the south edge of the canopy and should get nearly full sunlight except for the shadow from the tower.
2024-04-22 000139 HFP01 Removed Heat Flux Plate B Removed from Tonzi floor met because a cow had chewed the wire and pulled the plate out of the ground.
2024-05-08 000139 HFP01 Installed Heat Flux Plate B Reinstalled at Tonzi Floor in flexible aluminum conduit. It might be at about -5cm - I was a little overwrought at the time.
2001-01-05 000140 HFP01 Installed Heat Flux Plate C Likely first installation date and location estimated from notes and data.
2024-05-15 000141 HFP01 Maintenance Heat Flux Plate F Rewired to new junction box and updated data logger program.
2001-01-05 000144 HFP01 Installed Heat Flux Plate E Likely first installation date and location estimated from notes and data.
2011-11-16 000144 HFP01 Removed Heat Flux Plate E I removed this heat flux plate from the Tonzi understory location due to bad readings. I found that a gopher had cut the cable. In addition the the insulation on the cable was cracked and rotting.
2011-12-01 000144 HFP01 Installed Heat Flux Plate E Reinstalled in the field in its orginial location. The ground was dry and crumbly.
2001-01-05 00068 HFP01SC Installed Heat Flux Plate D Likely first installation date and location estimated from notes and data.
2024-02-16 00068 HFP01SC Maintenance Heat Flux Plate D I dug this plate up. It was at about -10cm with voids below the plate. I soldered on a new cable amd cut off the calibration cable because the insulation on both was completely rotten. I put it back at -2cm.
2024-03-07 00068 HFP01SC Moved Heat Flux Plate D I moved this plate back down to -10cm where I found it before fixing its cable a couple weeks ago.
2012-01-09 2495 HFP01SC Installed Installed at -8cm at SP1 inside the soil co2 fence. This is the initial setup of the site by Richard Cuenca and Yutaka Hagimoto of Oregon State Univ.
2012-01-09 2500 HFP01SC Installed Installed at about 1m agl at SP1 inside the soil co2 fence. This is the initial setup of the site by Richard Cuenca and Yutaka Hagimoto of Oregon State Univ.
